Ruben Bekx studied bassguitar/upright bass (and additionally composition/production) at the conservatorium of Utrecht, where he graduated in 2006 with one of his own projects “The Unseen Movie Project”.
A crossover of music from different cultures.
Besides playing bass and guitar, he likes to compose/arrange new material, which resulted into several projects, like TOFF and My Portland.
There have been lots of different international collaborations in South Africa, USA, Middle East, North Korea, and France in either a performing or productional way, and some of them resulting in series of living room concert all over the Benelux.
For example with Jason Carter and Hannah Clair.
Within the last couple of years he has been collaborating with ME (Minco Eggersman), ‘Psalmen voor nu’, ‘Mensenkinderen’ and ‘How to throw a christmas party’.
Besides playing bass he has developed an interest in some ‘weird’ instruments (thanks to some travels), which result in some surprising sounds.
