You will have learned after doing this workshop: Not only to understand what is an authentic work of art, but to be able to distinguish from other forms which are not, and to develop methods of articulating a critique of them when they misuse art. What materials/equipment you need to bring to be able to do this workshop: Desirable, but not essential: examples of problematic artwork. The content of this workshop is: We will be thinking through and defining what we mean by 'art,' considering how it is used in everyday life, and various ways in which it may be compromised or abused, looking at examples of kitsch, porn, advertising. Some exploration of what might distinguish 'Christian' art may be attempted.
