International Christian Artists Seminar, August 2 - August 7, 2008. at Doorn, The Netherlands

CA 2008 is already 28 years essential for anyone who wants to pursue a study in the arts or is studying an aspect of the arts or culture. CA-2008 is also a great ‘refresher’ for any professional in the arts/culture. CA 2008: don’t miss this creative and inspirational ‘hot-spot’ for young and old.

The Christian Artists seminar is the place to be for concerts, workshops, expositions, dance, visual arts, media arts, lectures, poetry, creativity, personal challenge, personal development and networking.

This International Christian Artists Seminar has been a unique experience for 28 years. CA-2008 will be held at the Hotel-/Conference Centre Zonneheuvel/SBI in the village Doorn, the Netherlands.

CA-2008 is organized with the support of EZA and the European Commission

Workshops & Modules
There are appr. 80 different workshops, modules, classes and meetings.

Participation
Anybody can participate. The participation fee is between €.50,- to €.600,- depending on the accommodation you select. 

If you are creative
We invite you to join this European meeting, bringing together leading artists in every form of art to inspire, teach, stimulate and encourage you. Since its beginning in 1980/1981 the Christian Artists Seminars have been the door to a new artistic future for thousands of participants and delegates.The CA-seminars provide stimulating input for those entering a professional study in the Arts(music, performing arts, visual arts, media) as well as for professionals in the field.

Modular  
This learning is done through a modular system of workshops and masterclasses. Many of these modules are a great help to prepare yourself for the hard life on the labour market. These modules are part of the new European Academy for Culture and the Arts. This academy has prepared hundreds of modules for a life long learning program helping you in your professional career and personal development. A certificate is earned on completion of this module/workshop. There are also leadershipsessions about society, the church and culture.

Structure   
The CA-seminar is 5 days of learning and inspiration. During each day there are 5 shifts of workshops/masterclasses. All subjects will be held each day at the same time and the same location, continuing from the previous day. A day starts with worship in the chapel; followed by: a workshop/ masterclass; the key plenairy meeting starting with an artist followed by a lecturer/speaker; another workshop/masterclass session; lunch; the ‘future stage’; 2 shifts of workshops/masterclasses; visit either the lifestyle forum or a special lecture; dinner; The evening will surprise you with presentations/performances of 6 different leading artists/groups/bands/companies; informal meetings and personal coaching upon request. This structure opens up many opportunities for learning, insight, inspiration, fellowship, new European contacts...

Theme   
Each year the seminar has a theme. Together we will think about this challenge, as it will help each christian artist to find his/her way in society. For this year we received clear direction to speak about; Social-Cultural dialogue about cultural diversity. We have to deal with vision and facts, education and experience, work and the world and what christian ethics mean, and creative ways of achieving harmony. CA-no.28: Social-Cultural dialogue about cultural diversity and the practical implications for new work-opportunities, life long learning, participation of young and old.

Languages
Plenairy meetings and most workshops will be held in English.

Future Stage 
Each day there is a special stage with sound equipment, where participants can perform. Professionals will help you and will give advice on how to continue as a dancer/performer/band/ choir/actor. It is a very stimulating learning experience, and many famous artists started on this CA-future-stage.

Exhibition  There is also limited exhibition space for visual arts participants.

Costs & Facilities
Arrival: saturday afternoon, August 2.
Departure: thursday morning after breakfast, August 7.

2. You arrange your own accommodation, but use the SBI- facilities €40,- p.p
3. You arrange your own accommodation, but have meals at the SBI-centre: €265,-.
4. Stay at the CA-campsite: €60,- p.p., care for your own meals (cheapest!)*
5. Stay at the CA-campsite + meals at the SBI-centre: €285,- p.p.
6. The SBI-conference centre is a 3-star hotel accomodation,1 person in a room with shower and toilet and all meals are €360,- p.p.* There are several 2 persons per room facilities. Couples is two times single rate.
7. Cancellations: downpayment of €50,- non-refundable; cancellation after June 1 no refunds.

* free coffee and tea included, twice daily.

Campsite
The campsite is 200 meters from the centre in the middle of the woods. Tents are allowed, as are small caravans and campers. This campsite is primitive. There is no campshop but there is a shopping centre in the nearby village. 

Youth
Is the Christian Artists Seminar the right place for young people to attend? We believe that the answer is an emphatic ‘yes!’ Naturally, reasonable conditions will be imposed upon those who wish to participate: you need to be motivated; you need to understand English; you must be at least 16 years of age;; you must attend the whole period of 5 days.

Children
- children under 14 have no access to the workshops
- if you bring children, you need to take responsability for them; this includes in the woods as that is a protected area.

No free days to participate?
N.B.Should you run into problems in getting time off from an employer, nearly every contract nowadays has a clause allowing staff days off for trade-union activities. This clause also applies to the CA-Seminar since CA is an activity of the trade-unions.

What next
  After receiving you registration form and downpayment, we will confirm your participation; you will receive the invoice for the reminder and you will get travel-instructions. When you sign up for a series of workshops/ modules you will only receive a certificate if you follow the whole series.
