Torsten Harder

Born in 1965 in East Germany, cellist Torsten Harder is a soloist and orchestral player, who also arranges and improvises in a mixture of styles. In 1978 he studied in Berlin at the Hans Eisler School. He has worked at the Mecklenburg Neustrelitz Theatre as a theatrical composer and with a variety of other music performance based groups. Since1996 he has worked as a freelance composer and cellist.

As an international soloist Torsten Harder has played in concerts throughout Europe and in large-scale collaborative productions with other musicians that have at their heart improvisation with references to blues and rock traditions.

His other musical commitments include teaching a variety of instruments at a music school in Neustrelitz.
