Dr Geoffrey Stevenson is a lecturer and writer who teaches preaching and media literacy at the University of Edinburgh where he is an Honorary Fellow. He studied philosophy and theology at Oxford, then trained as an actor and mime artist. A deviser and performer of his own mime theatre shows, he toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe to both churches and arts centres for 18 years. From 1996 – 2005 he was Director of the Centre for Christian Communication at St John’s College, University of Durham. He has published two books on mime in the church and three on preaching.
He is married to Judith, they live in Edinburgh, Scotland and they have 4 grown children and 7 grandchildren, at last count.
