Brent Saklofske
Brent has been a professional musician for 35 years, “I started really young!” He is a very versatile musician who has played everything from classical recitals, big band jazz, country, rock and more. A classically trained guitarist Brent, has studied with Jake Soloman at the University of Calgary.
Brent has served as Musical Director for many musical theatre engagements such as the Stage West Theatre in Calgary. As a result he has had the opportunity to work with a wide range of artists including Ronnie Spector, Irene Cara and Florence Laru of the Fifth dimension. Other examples of his range include warming up for Kiss and touring with Percy Sledge. On the country side of things he has toured and recorded with Chris Cummings, Ray Griff and the Tremblay Brothers.
Brent owns and operates a wonderful music store called Saks Music located in Calgary, Alberta. Over the years thousands of young musicians have studied and developed their musical knowledge and talents under Brent’s tutelage. At any given moment he has upwards of 500 students being taught by 30 teachers.
Brent has appeared on too many recording projects to list here but some of the hi-lights are: Brent contributed three pieces to the critically acclaimed compilation CD “Table for Two” with his compositions receiving international airplay. Brent’s first solo CD is called “Music For Trees” completed in 2004, which has had excellent sales for an independent album. In 2006 Brent released “I Love Guitars”, his second CD which has enjoyed very positive reviews and was nominated for the Best Instrumental Album at the 2007 Western Canadian Music Awards.
Brent will be performing and conducting workshops at the 2008 Christian Artists Europe Festival in the Netherlands this summer. Brent also donates his time and talent to projects such as Franciscan and Friends which raises much needed funds for rebuilding Churches and schools in the Caribbean.
Currently, Brent is releasing his new album “Ear Candy “and is in pre production for the up-coming “The Earth Kings” debut CD.
