Luis Alfredo Diaz

Born in Uruguay in 1951. From childhood,
studied music, painting and film at the Departmental Museum of San Jose (Uruguay). At that time it was carrying out a special educational program, in which children and young people from schools in the city with artistic abilities were selected and invited to join the regular courses for adults with master painters, sculptors...
Thus, Luis Alfredo had the opportunity to receive and develop since child a taste for art, listening to classical music, watching movies, and was able to experiment in drawing, ceramics, painting and music.
The result of all this is his artistic sensibility, which will continue to grow throughout his life and will be reflected in the creation of the Multifestival David. They were turbulent times in Uruguay and Latin America in general, a lot of instability and universities closed. At the age of 17 he moved to Europe to study and lived a year and a half in Finland. Then set out in Spain, and opened his own studio in Burgos. He also exhibits and begins his work as composer and producer of music with human values. During the years in Burgos, Luis Alfredo deployed a very strong commitment to give art a social sense among young people, many of them disoriented and with drug problems.

From his painting studio, Luis Alfredo gets involved in helping these young people through projects with various colleges and universities. In 1981 he moves to Barcelona, where he continues his career as a musician and producer and creates the MFD with interest to discover, support and promote young artists, reproducing somehow the experience at the Museum of San Jose that as a child made him so well. To date, 21 editions of this festival have been held in Spain and from 5 years ago in other countries such as Puerto Rico, Peru, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Mexico, United States, Germany and Portugal. As a result and to go more deeply into the activities that take place during the MFD, Luis Alfredo created the Academy of MFD, which has already been done in the Dominican Republic, Spain and Peru. In parallel, and on several occasions he has given courses for novice artists in Cuba, Colombia and Mexico.
In the year 1980 creates Producciones De La Raíz, which has produced more than 200 albums. Some of these works made in collaboration with entities such as Manos Unidas and Intermon. With these productions were performed roving entertainment, in colleges and universities in Spain and the Americas, "También quieren ser niños y niñas", where emphasizes the theme of the children rights, "Iguales y diferentes", which works on inequality, "Refugiados", "Una tierra para todos", etc…
Luis Alfredo has been always on tour throughout Europe, United States and Latin América giving concerts, lectures and conferences. All that work and contacts will crystallize in the project of the Los Cabos Art Center, which since 2003 is working in Los Cabos, a small village of Asturias, Spain. In this center, which he directs, a group of professionals from many different nationalities live and work. There is a very clear bet for education and awareness of youth through art.
