Gerald Troost

Gerald Troost is a diverse and much appreciated musical artist from Veenendaal. Over the last few years, Gerald has written more than a hundred songs, and has given hundreds of concerts, as well as workshops and various kinds of training that have reached and positively influenced a broad public.

Further, Gerald is active as a DISC trainer and is involved with various Christian organisations such as ‘Adopt a neighbourhood’ and Dorcas Help.

Gerald was born in Hasselt on March 6th, 1978 in Hasselt in the province of Overijssel, the Netherlands. After living on a farm for year, the Troost family moved to Veenendaal for good. Gerald began music lessons from his father at age 4 and played classical piano at age 7. At the age of 14, Gerald formed his own band and wrote his first songs. During that time he met Nelinda Koudijs. Gerald says about this time in his life: “From the moment I saw Nelinda, I knew she was very special. I tried to make an impression on her after a concert but Nelinda was not easily impressed!” After I had asked her to go steady, I spontaneously announced that I was going to marry her. That came as a bit of shock for the 15-year-old Nelinda! Well, Nelinda eventually became his wife and is presently a great support to Gerald. She sings in the ‘LIVE’ band, has co-written a number of songs, is responsible for all the administrative tasks, bookings and reservations and also helps with the overall organisation of various activities.

After studying Social Work and setting up a number of rock bands, Gerald brought out the CD “With New Eyes” in the year 2000. The CD includes such songs as ‘Not by chance’ ‘Closer and closer to you’ and ‘Home’ and was a great success. After the success of ‘With New Eyes’ it became apparent that Gerald was built to last and various new books and CDs followed. Gerald daily receives emails from people who were impressed or touched by a performance, a CD or a speech or talk.

Troost on Tour
Gerald gives weekly performances with a complete band or optionally, in a more intimate setting. The “Troost on Tour” crew helps Gerald by providing lights and sound, other background materials and is also ready to answer questions or give advice to audience members who have been moved by what they have seen or heard. Gerald has performed at the Dutch Evangelical Youth Festival, the Flevo Music Festival, Yorin, Radio 2, Radio 3, various other festivals, regional channel networks, etcetera. Further, Gerald regularly gives performances at schools, choir anniversaries, weddings and church services.

Mission
Gerald says the following about his mission: “I want to help people see the beauty of the Gospel message and I realize that my music is more powerful if I consciously allow Jesus to be the centre of my activities and products. I want to show people how God has changed my life. Stronger than that, how His love for me is the motivating factor of my entire life. Belief in God isn’t something outdated or boring for me, but a great adventure and of life importance! In the near future, as well as producing CDs and books, I want to continue coaching people as a DISC-trainer and want to keep investing myself in projects such as ‘Adopt a neighbourhood’.
