Geoffrey Stevenson

Geoffrey Stevenson was an actor and mime artist before he turned to training pastors in preaching and communication skills. After gaining a degree in Philosophy and Theology from Oxford, and a short stint as a cook, he was a founding member of Riding Lights Theatre Company, a partner with Graham Kendrick in a mime and music ministry, and for 15 years a frequent contributor as a solo mime to many Christian conferences and missions. A deviser and performer of his own mime theatre shows, he toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe both to churches and small scale theatres. From 1996 – 2005 he was Director of the Centre for Christian Communication at St John’s College Durham, and is now working on a PhD on the development of preachers. He has published two books on mime in the church and two on preaching. The latest, co-authored with Stephen Wright is entitled Preaching With Humanity (2008).
He is married to Judith, who works as a Senior Tutor for the University of Durham. The live in Edinburgh, Scotland and they have 4 grown children and 3 grandchildren.
